Dr. Ledger provides assessments and management plans for dogs experiencing a variety of behavioural and emotional issues.

Your veterinarian may have recommended Dr. Ledger's services if they feel your dog could benefit from science-based, humane and positive reinforcement-focused behavioural therapy.
Note: Dr. Ledger does not use 'shock-collars', pinch collars, choke chains, or any punishment-based training.

INITIAL CONSULTATION: WHAT TO EXPECT

Pre-Appointment:

Once we have received an appointment request from your veterinarian, clients will be contacted with service, fee and scheduling information.

Upon booking, clients will be sent a dog history questionnaire, to be completed and returned prior to your appointment.

Day of Appointment:

1-hour virtual/phone call, to discuss your dog's behavioural history.
-
1-hour virtual, outdoor or in-home assessment, training and management plan.

2 hours: Dr. Ledger will prepare a comprehensive report for you and your veterinarian.

Appointments Inclusions:

Collaboration with your veterinarian regarding the initial consultation.

Follow-Up Sessions:
-
30-minute to 1-hour follow-ups are recommended at key stages after the initial consultation.

Follow-ups are charged in addition to the initial consultation fee.

BOOKING LEAD TIME
​​Appointments are typically scheduled within 2 weeks to 3 months from the referral date, with urgent cases prioritized.

If you are considering behavioural therapy for your dog, and you have pet insurance, it's a good idea to check with your insurance provider to determine whether Dr Ledger's services are covered by your plan. Many pet insurers will cover Dr Ledger's fees, in full or in part, when your claim is eligible.
